Location based campaigns use location-based services on a smart phone’s GPS technology to track a person’s location, if that person has allowed that. After a user agrees, the location technology can identify his or her location down to a street address.

Gimbal GeoFence: The Gimbal GeoFence campaign works in conjunction with the client’s mobile app. This location campaign allows you to create a “fence” or boundary around a chosen location. When a user with the mobile app on the phone crosses either in or out of the fence, they will receive a push notification message.

Beacon: The Gimbal Beacon Campaign uses beacons, or small device that broadcasts and receives information within short distances, placed in chosen strategic locations. The beacon transmits a signal to a consumer’s smart phone allowing the beacon to figure out how close the consumer is to the beacon. The content (a coupon, for example) is delivered to the consumer’s app if they are close to a beacon. Beacons can also be used to collect information about shoppers — particularly how they maneuver through stores.

The two types of location campaigns provide for both MACRO geo functionality (large area geofences) as well as MICRO geo functionality (small area geofences) to allow for in-store location campaigns.

Please Note that Cellforce has developed some exclusive functionality that is not available through the Gimbal standalone interface. Such functionality includes, for example, a confirmation or welcome message to any person who downloaded the location based services related application.
